AIPH choses Bologna as official site for the International Horticultural Exposition 2019
The International Association of Horticultural Producers selects
Emilia-Romagna region, Bologna municipality and its public entities as the next venues to host
Expo 2019 “Grow Green. Eat green. Live green”, an expo focused on the topics of regeneration and urban agriculture.
After Holland, Taipei, Antalya and Taiwan, the turn has come for Bologna and Emilia-Romagna, which have been chosen as the locations that will give hospitality to more than 50 exhibitor countries in the occasion of Bologna & Emilia Romagna Expo 2019, on the topics of regeneration, urban agriculture and sustainable development.
The decision has been made today in Ratingen, Germany, by the council of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, confederated to the International Bureau of Exposition. “The council considers that Emilia-Romagna region, together with the project of FICO Eataly World, will be able to organize a stunning Expo within the city of Bologna. The main purpose will be to connect together food, living, green and nature, while sharing practices, creating unique occasions and providing to people a wide range of experiences which have never been realized before”. On the basis of these reasons, the executive committee of AIPH has elected our territory as the protagonist of the “International Horticultural Exposition” which will take place in Bologna from the May the 1st till October the 31st, 2019. The Expo will see FICO, Italian Farming Factory, and CAAB, Agribusiness Centre of Bologna, as the main actors of the event, while involving several areas around the city, such as Parco Nord, Montagnola, Giardini Margherita as well as several private gardens located inside the historic palaces of Bologna.
During this unique event, the 80,000 sqm of FICO Eataly World will be filled by more than two and a half millions of visitors, 50 exhibitor countries and around one hundred international delegations; furthermore, the event will see the attendance of approximately 500 companies and the organization of more than 1,500 events throughout the semester.
“We are more than proud to receive this prestigious acknowledgement – have declared Tiziana Primori and Alessandro Bonfiglioli, respectively the CEO of Eataly World and the general manager of CAAB, after receiving the news related to the approval of the project. We have made several efforts in order to process and enhance our proposal throughout the last months: a task that has required a great commitment and that it is now starting to yield the first positive results. Today’s presentation has formally occurred in front of the Executive Committee, which has showed a certain interest toward the project itself as well as the synergic involvement of Emilia-Romagna region and Bologna municipality”.
Still today, Expo 2021, which will be focused on the re-greening of deserted areas, has been assigned to Qatar. Concurrently, the new symbolic twinning between Bologna-Beijing has been sealed, as both of the cities will host Expo during 2019.
